The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – or #NSale – seems like the only topic of conversation with bloggers right now so trust me, I get it, it’s overwhelming. I mean, it’s overwhelming in general with the massive selection to filter through and the constant reminder on how quickly some of the best pieces will sell out. I’m pretty sure I blacked out last year during this time and ordered ridiculous amounts of stuff simply because I felt I HAD to get SOMETHING – or everything even remotely cute before it sold out. It almost all went back. Let’s not do that again this year.
Here are 7 tips on how to navigate the biggest sale of the year.
- Don’t buy something simply because it’s on sale. Seems obvious but we all do it. It helps to ask yourself, “If I don’t love it enough to pay the original price of $50 for it, why am I buying it for $30?” before adding it to your bag.
- Go for quality over quantity. This is the time to splurge on something you’ve been drooling over – even if it means buying only that one thing. The cashmere, winter coats, designer boots you won’t find discounted this heavily again but the tops that are marked down $20 you’ll see in future sales.
- Don’t forget about tailoring. As a Nordstrom cardholder you earn alteration dollars so if the blazer or designer jeans don’t fit perfectly, it’s still worth it to keep them and have them altered.
- Order multiple sizes and styles. They have free shipping both ways so you are better off ordering multiple sizes right out of the gates if you aren’t sure how they run to reduce the odds of it selling out by the time you get it delivered and tried on. Likewise, if you’re in the market for a great pair of boots, order a few styles knowing that you will only keep one (okay, maybe two).
- Keep checking back as the merchandise will change. Early access runs through July 19th for card holder members and then it’s open to the public July 20th-August 6th. Some items will get restocked and new pieces added throughout the sale so check back. If you’re not a cardholder member, I’d highly recommend signing up for one as they have a really good rewards program.
- Use the filters when browsing. Again, seems obvious but it will help you from buying that $36 graphic tee just because it’s $36 when you already have a drawer full of them. I filter by category first and then by price. This will get me right to the pieces I know I need for fall that are within my budget.
- Don’t forget to check the sales outside of the #NSale. I actually found quite a few fall items for 30-40% off outside of the Anniversary Sale so don’t forget to browse all sale items.
Helpful? Good. Good. Moving on to the best part: my favorite picks! I obviously didn’t buy all of the things I listed below, but the ones I did I marked as ITB (in the bag) under the caption. I’d recommend “window shopping” all the way to the bottom of the post first and then going back through and clicking on the pieces you like, that way you don’t have to keep toggling back and forth between sites. I do earn a small commission per click/per purchase so thank you for supporting my passion by using the affiliate links below when making a purchase. Godspeed.
