Deklan is at that age where naps are optional on the weekend. We always try to get him down so that we can have a few hours to ourselves, but most of the time it’s such a battle that it’s not even worth it. Last weekend was one of those perfect storms where everyone (including my husband) went down for a nap at the same time. I left a note for the hubs that I went to “run some errands” and was out the door before another minute of freedom was wasted. My plan was to swing into Evereve to get a couple things to add to my fall wardrobe and then pick up groceries at Costco. 2 hours later, I’m still in the dressing room at Evereve when I receive a text from the hubs notifying me that everyone was awake and wondered when I would be home. We’ve been at this long enough that I knew that was my que that it was time to go. In hindsight, I should have gone to Costco before Evereve considering we were down to only a handful of diapers, buuttttt I had a stack of gift cards that were burning a hole in my pocket so selfish Amy put herself first. I really didn’t expect to be shopping that long but they have SO many good things in stock right now I just couldn’t stop myself! And let’s be real, poor time management is in my blood. Ain’t that right, Ma?
Blouse: Tie Neck LS by Daniel Rainn (this is one of those tops that doesn’t have great hanger appeal. The stylist had put it in my room for me which was the only reason I tried it on, and I surprisingly loved it!)
Black Jeans: Paige Verdugo Crop
Gingham Flats: Nordstrom Rack – old, similar gingham flat here or you could do a pewter loafer with this look (both under $50!)
Sweater Dress: Striped Swing Dress by Elan
Slip: Voile Trapeze Slip by Free People (I’m really into layering so I love how this simple slip added a feminine touch to a basic sweater dress)
Ankle Booties: Freebird
Necklace: Bold Natural Stone Rust Pendant
Flannel: Free People
Slip: Voile Trapeze by Free People (size S for reference, although I maybe would have gone with an XS if they had it)
Jeans: BLANK (only $88!)
Wedge Booties: Sorel ‘Lea and in additional colors here (it’s seriously like walking on air with these suckers)
Necklace: Bold Natural Stone Rust Pendant
Jacket: Peyton Jensen Uptown Jacket (it has amazing stretch to it so it’s super comfortable)
Vikings Tank: Junk Food Timeout Tank (Perfect outfit game day – SKOL!)
Jeans: AG Farrah Skinny
Booties: Sorel ‘Joan of Arctic or from Nordstrom’s here for my fellow loyalty rewards shoppers
Blanket Scarf: Lovestich (it’s so soft I had to get it. The key to keep it from feeling too bulky is to roll it tight)
Speaking of blanket scarves, they can be tricky because there’s so much fabric. If you start at the corner instead of folding it in the middle, it keeps the majority of the bulk at the back of your neck versus your chin. I tried to take a couple step by step pics to show you what I mean. Ignore the stern face. Taking photos while trying to tie a scarf requires focus.
Blanket Scarf: Garnet Field
Vikings Tee: Junk Food
Jeans: AG Farrah Skinny
Booties: Sorel ‘Joan of Arctic and Nordstrom’s link here
Blouse: Tie Neck Tank
Sweater: Peyton Jensen (I love anything with pockets)
Black Jeans: Paige Verdugo Crop
Wedge Booties: Sorel ‘Lea and I also love this Sorel ‘1964 Wedge Bootie style in lots of fun colors
Hat: Billabong ‘Daydream (I love a stiff brim Panama style hat but this one was just a little too loose on me. It sat low giving off a Smokey Bear vibe and I knew the wind would take it the second I stepped outdoors. Here’s a similar one from Brixton that is available in various sizes or this Michael Stars one with an adjustable band inside)
Blouse: Free People (I’m a sucker for a good sheer blouse. I wore it with a grey tank underneath to work, but on the weekend I opted for a gray bra. Meow.)
Jeans: Paige Transcend Verdugo – Smoke Grey (If you haven’t noticed yet, the Paige Transcend Verdugo is one of my go-to styles in denim.)
Vegan Suede Jacket: Free People (I ended up spotting this beauty on my way out so I went with it instead. I don’t love the faux fur collar so I passed it up until I learned it was removable. Sold!)
Sleeveless Blouse: Allison Joy
Black Jeans: AG Legging Ankle (I love the soft stretch of the AG Legging Jeans!)
When I finally arrived at home I was greeted at the door by my overly eager husband ready to help carry in all the groceries. Needless to say he wasn’t thrilled to learn that I never quite made it to Costco, but not to worry because the pizza delivery guy was on his way. This is me finding balance in life. #KillinIt

Laughing because this was me a few days ago. Went “grocery shopping” at nap time and returned with new clothes and no food. But hey, I also returned with my sanity.
YASSS, GIRL! Nobody starved and Mama kept her cool – win, win.
