Okay so while I’m still not quite sure I am bold enough to rock the turtle print leggings, I did walk away from Rauha Herritz’s LuLaRoe Party with a new outlook on their signature leggings that seem to be all the rage these days. And yes, they are as comfortable as everyone says they are.
This is one of those “No Shower Required” looks that will get you out the door before the husband has a chance to ask how long you think you’ll be at Target. Pfft. I know better than to answer that question. Size ‘there is no size’ for reference.
Chambray Shirt: Nordstrom Rack – old, but almost identical here (it has a slit in the back that gives it an effortless feel. You’ll see it on repeat a lot. And it’s only $45!) Also love this longer version and I think I might need this burnt orange hooded cardigan to throw over the top. Yeah?
Sneakers: Nike Flex Trainer (sneakers aren’t just meant for the gym. #athleisure)
Button Up: Gap – super old with a big stain all down the arm from God knows what. I refuse to throw it out though because the little teacups are adorable peeking out from under a sweater. Here are some other button up’s I’d pair with this print just to give you some additional inspiration: this oversized checked shirt; or this bird print and then swap out the cream sweater for this blue one; or this embroidered poplin shirt without a sweater over it and swap out the Hunter’s for a pair of over the knee suede boots.
Sweater: J.O.A from Evereve – last season. I look about 20 lbs heavier in this sucker, but it’s so cozy I don’t even care. Similar cold-shoulder version here, turtleneck version here, or a chunky cable knit one here, here , and here – all for under $100!
Rainboots: Hunter Original
Sweater: Lush from Evereve – I LIVED in this all last winter. It’s so soft and I love the slightly sloppy bohemian vibe of a cocoon sweater. Old, but similar here, here or here
Blouse: H&M – old, but pretty close here or here
Ankle Booties: Gap ‘Chelsea’ Boot (I bought these last year and got TONS of compliments on them. Luckily for you, they brought them back this year AND they are currently having a 40% off sale so get ’em while you can! The quality and comfort are surprising for a Gap shoe. Trust.) Speaking of Chelsea…I also love the idea of the Hunter ‘Chelsea’ Ankle Bootie with this look.)
You guys, my husband and I have NEVER taken our kids on vacation. We are super selfish like that and always leave them behind because, it’s vacation. But Carter will turn 2 in January so we figured we should squeeze in one free flight while we can, and on an impulse ended up booking 4 nights in Palm Desert the weekend before his 2nd birthday. Way to ease into it with a flight across the country. This should be good. The blog posts will basically write themselves. This look though is the perfect airport outfit to give off the appearance that I have it all under control. No?
Blouse: Same H&M one as above.
Leather Jacket: BlankNYC – Hands down the best #NSale purchase (sorry, it’s over. I was going to blog about it but everyone and their mother did it for me. I’m sure you got your fill.) A close second being the Sorel Wedge Booties. You’ll be seeing those a lot. I live in MN and WINTER IS COMING!
Sneakers: Nike Flex Trainers (did I mention I don’t actually work out in these? It’s fun to pretend though, amiright?)
My husband does this thing where he drinks straight from the faucet in the bathroom sink before brushing his teeth. What are you, an animal? I’ve seen the gooey orange shit that lives under the faucet when it doesn’t get cleaned enough. And let me tell you, it doesn’t get cleaned enough. I aksed him for a cleaning lady for Christmas one year and got an iRobot Roomba instead. We named her Freda. Her scope of responsibility begins and ends with floors, so not exactly what I had in mind.
Olive Vest: Nordstrom Rack – old, similar here with the cinched waist; or I like this hooded sweatshirt version; or you could do this olive bomber jacket to take it into the Fall/Winter. I’d size up in the tank underneath to give it a longer, looser fit if you go with the shorter jacket, but that’s just me and my saggy Miley Cyrus bootie talking. You do you, Kim K look-alikes!
#NOFILTER Tank: Heartbreakers – not sold online, but this happy one is the same style or I found another #NOFILTER one at H&M in black.
Sneakers: Nike Flex Trainers
Well. That’s it. That’s all I got. I’ve really enjoyed this little 4 day LuLaRoe binge styling sesh we’ve shared together. I’m here to humor and inspire so hopefully I’ve done what I set out to do, and now here’s where I leave you while I go clean up the epic mess in my room. I have a bad habit of trying on a bunch of clothes and then throwing them on the floor instead of hanging them back up like a normal responsible adult would. I’ve failed you, Mom.
See you next time when we return to our regular scheduled program of toddler meltdowns. I’ve been keeping notes so I wouldn’t skip a beat. They have been on one this week…uffda.

I’m Lularoe fan, so I’m glad I stumbled on your blog with for some ideas and some laughs. You look great in them!
Thank you, Debbie! I hope you continue to follow along 🙂
I’m seriously in love with you! I shared your llr posts in my VIP group. I wish you could come in my closet and make me as fabulous as you are in these clothes!
HAHAH! I don’t know you but I like you already ;). And thank you for sharing my blog! I LOVE hearing when people are finding inspiration – or simply humor – from it so please continue to do so! As for your closet, little do you know, my dream job is actually to style everyday women incorporating items they already own in their closet, so you tell me when I will be right on over! LOL. I’ll even bring the wine! What’s the one item in your closet today that you feel like you never know what else to wear it with? It just might be the inspiration for my next post 🙂
I loved reading your posts on how to style LLR. I’m a mom to 2 heathens…I mean beautiful girls under 3. And I live in my LLR. Have you tried the Amelia?! So many ways to style as well! Thanks for the laughs and I’ll continue to follow. PS: my hubby drinks from the faucet too and I gag a little each time I see him do it…
Hi there! Thank you for the kind note and continuing to follow along 🙂 My 3 year old has also now started to drink from the faucet because monkey see, monkey do. Heathens is right! LOL.
My dream job as well. You and I are kindred spirits. And, I read you legging post outloud to my husband. The part about drinking from the faucet. And the Roomba. You. Are. Hilarious! I was in stitches!
HAHA! I love it! Thanks for the note. #SoulSisters
Loved reading your posts.
Aww thank you! I’m glad I can entertain 😉
I really like the gap Chelsea boots, what else do you wear them with? I have tall boots, but no booties in my closet and I’m thinking I would
Like to invest in some. What is one style/heel height you would recommend that would feel is most versatile? I have limited funds to invest in my fashion dreams. Thanks!
Hi Heather! I LOVE the Chelsea – the possibilities are endless! They are really comfortable so I can wear them running around with the kids on the weekends or all day at work. I like that they have a little bit of a point to the toe; it’s slimming. And the brown sole with the small stack heel allows them to easily dress up or down. For a more casual look, I’ve worn them with ankle (or cuffed to be ankle length) skinny jeans, a graphic tee, and a long cardigan, or just a classic black knit turtleneck. The key is to have the pant hit just above the ankle bone so there is a little bit of skin between the pant and the top of the boot. In the winter, you could do leggings with an oversized sweater, and then throw on a pair of wool crew socks and scrunch them down so your ankles are covered. Socks can be a fun accessory! For a dressier look, I’ve worn them with black stretch ankle skinny pants, a button up blouse, and a blazer. I’ve also worn them with a tunic dress, both with and without tights depending on the weather. Gap is currently having a 40% off sale but I think they are excluded, unfortunately. I know they were recently a part of one of their sales though so I would just keep checking back regularly. What do you think, would you wear any of those looks?
Thanks Amy, those are all great ideas! I’m new to leggings, I just got my first pair of Lularoe’s in a plain blue color (didn’t see any patterns I really liked & not sure how I feel about the patterns on me yet!). But I would really like to expand my boring wardrobe. Working full-time & mom to 3 boys under 7 has killed my style! I think I might get them, if the sale applies. Love your styling!
That’s so funny because I literally had a pair of blue pair leggings in my hands at first too and then I saw the patterned leggings on someone else and thought they looked adorable so I decided to trade mine in and have never looked back! Trust me ;). I think every mom – even the self-proclaimed fashionable ones – go through that the phase where they suddenly feel like they’ve lost all style. I know I did! I’m thinking about doing a post for right after baby to help women figure out how to get their “groove” back after baby. Hopefully it’ll inspire!
Can I just say you’re absolutely adorable?! I like the crass reality of adulting and fashion you blog about. Cheers! Can you do a leggings to work tutorial? Like a business casual in LuLaRoe leggings (think college campus staff, but not actually the students).
Well aren’t you a doll; thank you! Leggings at work really depend on where you work. My company, for example, forbids them. If you work with children, or a hospital, or some place that has a more causal environment you could certainly pull them off. If you aren’t sure how they would be perceived then I would say to go with a more subtle print to start. A tunic length silk blouse or chambray shirt with a boyfriend style longer cardigan or duster (like the Sarah!) over it, and then a riding boot or a fashion sneaker like the Adidas Stan Smith’s or class Converses would be appropriate. You could also do a crisp white button up with an over-sized turtleneck sweater. The key is to make sure the top is long enough to cover your butt (that probably goes without saying…) Do you have a Carly? There are a couple legging combo ideas that would be work appropriate in the two posts I did on the Carly so check those out if you haven’t already. Hope that helps!
